Set against the backdrop of the 1980s and the emerging AIDS crisis, the novel is an LGBTQ+ coming-of-age story that follows Nick, a young man struggling to reconcile his traditional upbringing with his emerging identity. As he navigates love, fear, loss, and self-discovery, Nick confronts the realities of a world that often asks him to hide who he is. Marked by personal loss, emotional struggles and the pursuit of redemption, the novel explores what it means to move forward while carrying pieces of the past. At its heart, it is about finding the courage to live authentically, even when the road narrows. Richard Sgaglio is an author and communications professional with more than 25 years of experience in marketing, public relations, and communications. Originally from New York City and now living in Otis, Massachusetts, he teaches in the Communications Department at Purdue University Global, where he focuses on communication, conflict, and law and ethics. Richard is the author of When the Road Narrows, a novel that centers on LGBTQ+ coming-of-age experiences and the journey toward self-acceptance.
