A Night of Stargazing with local astronomer Rick Costello

  • 74 Andrews Road Becket, Massachusetts, 01223 United States (map)

In collaboration with Becket Dark Skies, join us for an evening of wine, cheese, and stargazing led by local astronomer Rick Costello. Rick will guide participants on a tour of the night sky, noting constellations, visible planets, and more.

Dress for the weather and bring your own chair or blanket. Will be rescheduled to 9/3 for rain or cloudy skies.

If you have a telescope, please feel free to bring it along!

Rick Costello was born and raised in Connecticut and by the age of 4 would borrow his father’s binoculars and squint to see the craters of the moon. As a grown man, he delivered packages for a parcel service, but he fled the gazillion lightbulbs of the lowlands to settle here in the Berkshire hills, enticed by good friends and dark skies.

Becket Dark Skies
A passionate group of citizens in Becket has united to protect the night skies, preserve wildlife habitats, and enhance stargazing opportunities. By raising awareness about light pollution and advocating for a local ordinance, we aim to ensure that outdoor lighting is well designed and positioned to safeguard the natural beauty of our dark skies and reap associated benefits.
