The Becket Athenaeum was established in 1888 "to maintain a library, reading room, and to promote good education...good citizenship, and the general welfare."
The library has evolved since then, but still endeavors to fulfill that basic mission outlined more than a hundred years ago by preserving the past, enriching the present, and meeting the needs of the Becket and Washington communities as we move into the future.
It is thanks to our amazing volunteer corps that we are able to provide such breadth of programs and services.
Whether you have an hour a month or an hour a day to give, we need your help.
Stop in, e-mail or give us a call - (413) 623-5483 - today and help make your library all it can be!
Becket and Washington's Community Library
While we are much more than a typical library, we do offer a diverse, current collection of both fiction and non-fiction book, magazines, books on CDs, DVDs.
We provide a number of passes to local museums so you can experience the rich culture this area has to offer.
We have 8 public computers, 2 iPads, free wi-fi in and outside the building and a litany of free services and programs.
It is through your generosity that we are able to keep our programs and services 100% free. Please consider making a donation today. The Becket Athenaeum is a 501(c)3 non profit organization.
