There's a library for that.

Want to create a website, learn a foreign language, find a good book to read, learn how to borrow e-books, see if there's any current music worth listening to, catch up on movie watching, learn how to use an iPad, research that thing you've always wonered about, read a variety of magazines that you don't want to have to subscribe to, get a good cup of coffee, check your e-mail, stock up on audio books for a drive to Altoona, find out what's going on around town.... You can do all that and much more at your very own local library--ask us, we're here to help!

Coming Soon...

We have joined MassCat, a resource sharing network for small libraries. What this means for you, our deserving patrons, is that our catalogue will be available online. As an added bonus, it will be up to date and accurate as well! Look for a link on this very website, early this summer, that will transport you to the wonderland that is the Athenaeum's collection of current, classic, and eclectic books, movies, music, audios, video games, and more!

High Hopes at Your Library

The Becket Athenaeum has received grant funding for a new initiative called High Hopes! This initiative provides new programming to support Becket and Washington's children in both becoming familiar with cutting edge technology, and identifying and pursuing their goals for the future; a Dream Fund to give young adults a small financial boost as they pursue their goals; a Volunteer Dollar program, in partnership with Berkshire Organics, to help parents and guardians provide extra nutrition for their growing children; a small business lab to provide access to professional grade technology for local entrepeneurs; and more! This grant also allowed us to undergo minor renovations, and add innovative (and just plain fun) technology for patron use.
