Libby App Instructions:

If you have been using Libby and now need to add your CW MARS card, see “Add CW MARS card to Libby” section below.

  1. On the device you plan to use to read or listen to digital content, download Libby, by OverDrive from your app store & open it

  2. Use “I’ll Search For A Library” to look up your Home Library OR try “Yes, Guess My Library” and the app will attempt to locate your closest library to you.

  3. Select CW MARS

  4. Login: your library card number

  5. Password: last four digits of your phone number (unless you changed it when accessing our catalog)

  6. Tap “Next”

  7. Now you’re ready to search for items to borrow by tapping on the magnifying glass in the bottom menu & typing the title or author

  8. If the item is available, tap on “Borrow.”

  9. Tap on “days” to select the loan period. Some networks allow 7, 14, or 21 day loan period.

  10. Tap “Borrow”


Add another library network:

To expand your access to digital items, you can add 7 additional library networks. Once you have done so & if an item is not available from one network, tap on the blue calendar next to “Place Hold.” That will bring up the list of the item’s availability or wait time at all of the networks you have added. You can check it out from any network if it is available or place a hold from whichever network has the shortest wait time.

  1. Select the 3 horizontal lines at the center of the menu on the bottom

  2. Select “Add Library”

  3. Search for one of the following & select from results:

    Boston Public Library (may appear as Boston Central Library)
    CLAMS, Inc.
    Merrimack Valley Library Consortium
    Minuteman Library Network
    NOBLE: North of Boston Library Exchange
    Old Colony Library Network
    SAILS Library Network

  4. Select" “Sign In With My Card”

  5. Select “CW MARS Library Patrons” from Partner Libraries dropdown menu

  6. Login: your library card number

  7. Password: last four digits of your phone number (unless you changed it when accessing our catalog)

  8. Tap “Next”

  9. Repeat for each library network you’d like to add

Setting up Libby on another device:

If you're already using Libby on one device, you can use a setup code to easily copy your library cards, loans, holds, and tags in Libby to another device. Instructions are here.

Add CW MARS card to Libby:

If you had been using Libby through our previous network, you need to delete that card and add your CW MARS card (even if the card number is the same).

Holds will not transfer. We apologize for the inconvenience.

  1. Open Libby on your phone/tablet

  2. Select the 3 horizontal lines at the center of the menu on the bottom

  3. Select “Manage Cards”

  4. Select a card (colored rectangle at top of screen)

  5. Select “Actions” and “Remove”

  6. Select “Add a Card”
    Let’s sign into your account. Where do you use your library card?

  7. Select “CW MARS Patrons.” If necessary, select “{#} More” in the Partner Libraries section to reveal the full menu. This is a different selection than you used for our previous network.

  8. Login: your CW MARS library card number

  9. Password: last four digits of your phone number (unless you changed it when accessing our catalog)

  10. Tap “Next”

  11. Continue removing your outdated card and adding your CW MARS card for each network on your account by following steps 4-10. These are the available networks:

    Boston Public Library (may appear as Boston Central Library)
    CLAMS, Inc.
    C/W MARS
    (may appear as CW Mars)
    Merrimack Valley Library Consortium
    Minuteman Library Network
    NOBLE: North of Boston Library Exchange
    Old Colony Library Network
    SAILS Library Network

  12. Now you’re ready to search for items to borrow by tapping on the magnifying glass in the bottom menu & typing the title or author

  13. If the item is available, tap on “Borrow.”

    Tap “Borrow”

  14. If the item isn’t available, tap on the calendar to find the network that has the shortest wait time.
    Tap “Place hold”

Reading on Kindle

You can download the Libby app on your Amazon Fire Tablet following the instructions on this page.
If you would like to read on a different Kindle device or app, you can set your Libby preference to Kindle and then send the title through your Amazon account. More information on borrowing Kindle books available here.

If you prefer to use your computer (rather than a smart phone or tablet) to read ebooks or listen to e-audiobooks, follow these instructions.

  1. Direct your browser to one of the following:

  2. Select “Sign In With My Card”

  3. Select “CW MARS Library Patrons”

  4. Enter your library card number, click “Next”

  5. Enter pin: last four digits of your phone number
    (unless you changed it when accessing our catalog)

  6. Click “Next”

  7. Now you’re ready to search for items to borrow!
